Geocaching class
Current mood:geeky
So last night, Dan and I went to a geocaching event. It was a puzzle class to help figure out/decipher clues that are in the “logs” of each cache.
Let me just say – the first thing I thought of was “I’m in a room with a bunch of geeks!” (yes, hubby is considered my geocaching geek). Fortunately, there are much more geekier geocachers than my hubby!
The presenter started talking about the different ciphers that were used in some local caches – OMG! – who knew all of these different ciphers were out there! Morse code based, binary, hidden clues in the HTTP source code, hidden tags in pictures, logical, etc. Too bad I didn’t go into the CIA, then maybe this wouldn’t have been new to me!
It was kind of cool to find out all of these different ciphers out there. The best thing – there are cheats all over the internet! You know that’s the only way I’m going to figure them out!
Anyway, I’ll have to try one. At least if Dan and I work together on one, we might be able to figure it out (like Dan couldn’t it figure out by himself – the puzzleman that he is)!
