Yesterday was a good day - I had lunch at IHOP with my friend, Michelle, and accomplished getting caught up on the Money Software!

By 9:30am today, I'd gone to the DMV, Best Buy, the bank, and Office Depot. Three out of four were completed tasks! Best Buy and Office Depot had 2 day sales for Thanksgiving, so I stopped at Best Buy first and bought a bunch of $4.99 movies. I wanted to get a 2GB jump disk (for $29.99), but they were out, so headed out to Office Depot. Of course, before the shopping, came the DMV - THE DREADED TASK!

Actually, it went pretty well, since I had a really nice person. She tried her best to help me out, BUT SUPPOSEDLY I have had 3 reissues in one year and therefore, I couldn't easily replace my lost license plate. Now, I say supposedly, because I have no idea where they got the 3 reissues - since we only have 2 cars. It could be because we just got the renewal notice for Plankton. That aside, since we purchased the jeep in August (2004), the emissions test expired in September (required every two years). UUUHHHHGGGG!!!!

So, the solution. I had to get new plates for the Jeep, get the emissions test, go back to the DMV and request a replacement for the original tag. In the meantime, I have to pay $12.50 for the new license plate, $15 - 20 for the emissions, and then for the replacement license plate. Luckily, it didn't take too long there since I got there right when they opened and I had the forms all filled out. I was out of there in like 30 minutes.

Dan's on his way back from Ohio today. He said they would leave somewhere between 10 and 12. That means he should be home between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Until, I'll probably take a nap - 6 a.m. came around too soon this morning!

So, it's Thanksgiving. I've spent the day at the computer doing home office stuff. It's already 5 pm and I haven't taken a shower yet. LOL! That's the nice thing when you're home alone and no plans. Very seldom do I not at least take a shower and dress. Sometimes, you just need it.

Lunch/Dinner was nachos - very good. The usual lunch/dinner when Dan's not around. I watched a couple of episodes from My Name is Earl - Season 1 that I hadn't seen yet. That show is so funny - no matter how many times I seen an episode, I laugh.

Yikes, what a day. I'm glad I'm home. Dan is safely in Ohio. Him and Donna got to Grandma's around 1:30 - they left like 7:30.

I went to Walmart today to finish up the shopping - I forgot - I have ONE more gift - for the boss - I can't figure out what to get her, so a Borders gift certificate it is. I know she always has a list of books to read, so I can't go wrong with it.

So, done shopping, taking the shopping cart back to the corral and walking back to the Jeep I realize - NO LICENSE PLATE. My first thought, MAYBE I got too close to the lawnmower and it got caught on the cover and ripped off. Got home - NOPE. So called DMV - closed until Saturday. Then called the sheriff's department - they said that I would have to fill out a report before going to the DMV. So, the cop came over and he told me differently - I could either do a police report and he'd have to take the other tag OR I could just go to the DMV and see what they say. I picked the latter. I'll see what happens. Worst case, new license plate number. Probably no more personalized license then.

Xmas shopping almost done! WOOHOO!

I have one small present to buy for our "adopted" nephew (Dan's best friend's kid). He's only 4 months, so it'll probably be some clothes to help the parents.

Dan leaves for Ohio tomorrow. I'll be hanging out at home - but I'm looking forward to it. This has been a rough year and I'm looking forward to some time to chill. I so enjoy just hanging out at home and doing stuff around here or running errands. I wish I could just stay home. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen living in this area! So the next best thing is planning on an early retirement. Hopefully that will happen.

So, the plan for the rest of the week, it's just me and Babe. I have a couple of computer stuff planned - I'm still behind from when we had to reformat the harddrive. Then maybe some scrapbooking and definitely cleaning the house!

Yeah - it's Friday. Not a holiday for us.

What a week - it was "car maintenance" week. We used a new mechanic, closer to home - we are now about $1,500 more in debt. The Jeep wasn't too bad - $270 for it's 24,000 mile checkup. The Nissan - a different story - $1,300. New tires, new battery, new hydraulics for the clutch, brake flush, radiator flush, power steering flush - good thing the car is paid for. But still - it's only 4 years old and at 45,000 miles. It's just a baby.... LOL!

A week until my Creative Memories party. Only 5 people so far, but the most important people - Dan's family. They are more into scrapbooking than I am.

Work this week has been crazy - I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow. No big plans this weekend - probably Caps practice on Sunday.

My boss will NOT let it go that I do not vote. She's pissing me off. It's my right and her hounding me about it WILL NOT make me go vote. It will probably prevent me from EVER voting.

She even said "As your boss, I'm telling you, you should vote (she said this to both me and Sandy) and then to me - "Especially you since your husband works for the government."

I don't complain about the government. I don't trust politicians. They say what they want and bash the person they are running against. I hate the telemarketing calls that are recorded and just call the numbers in the phone book - otherwise, they would see that the number I'm at IS NOT a registered voter.

I believe that each person will do what they want to do. To each their own. I don't believe in declawing cats and don't do it to my cats, but don't bash the people who do it (including my boss). I do feel sorry for the cats who don't have a choice. I don't believe in abortion, but don't hate people who have had one. If it doesn't hurt you, why should it matter to you. You don't know what the person has gone through to make the decisions they have made.

0 Pageviews Is it wrong that I don't vote?

Every year the boss says to me - you should vote - it's your right as an American. Isn't it my right NOT to vote also?

I also don't complain about politics. Meaning - I don't choose the person who's making the decisions, I shouldn't complain about the decisions being made.

Why don't I vote - it's all political and the people who are running say what they think you want to hear - or bash the person they are running against. It's a popularity contest. I have my own problems to worry.

I don't mind the growth in Loudoun County - why do you think I chose to live there? Our house has almost doubled in value in 4 years. I made $75,000 on my townhouse 4 years ago. So what if it leads to more traffic - that's what happens with growth. If you don't like it, leave. Same with the overall government - if you don't like it, leave the country. Because of the government, my husband has a job with VERY good benefits.

Maybe if I wasn't happy with the government, I would vote - or believe my vote really counts and makes a difference.

OK - off my soapbox. Just needed to get it off my chest - I just hate it when the boss tries to influence your personal life.

Capitals right wing Richard Zednik missed his second consecutive game with an injury he suffered against Atlanta last Friday. Although the team won't comment on the location or severity of the injury, video replays show Zednik favoring his left arm after a hit late in the second period against the Thrashers. He is officially listed as day-to-day.

So I woke up this morning and no Mark & Kris on the radio on Hot 99.5. Their contract was up at the end of the year and the company made a decision yesterday not to renew. OH - the pain this morning. EVERYONE is pissed, calling into the radio station, but he radio station is doing it right. They explained what happened, which I thought was cool. Not many stations would do that.

It's always hard to find a good radio station in the morning that has the right mix of music and talk and I always enjoyed 99.5 in the past - ever since the radio station first started - with THE Billy Bush (who is now on Access Hollywood).

So, we'll see what happens. Supposedly, they have a new guy Cane that is coming in and currently has a nationally broadcasted show.

Wow - November 1.

The year is flying by. Soon the holidays will start. I have my X-mas shopping planned for the 20th. I have that week off, so I should be able to get the majority done that day. I have less gifts to buy this year since I don't have to buy on Helen's behalf.

Last night was pretty fun hanging out on the porch, handing out candy. We went through almost two 3 1/2 pound bags and 5 snack size namebrand candies. Someone down the street had the music and lights going.

It's not as fun by myself though - maybe next year Dan will stay home. Halloween is his favorite holiday. We were so out of the spirit this year - we didn't even do pumpkins. We usually at least do pumpkins and I toast the seeds (I found a GREAT recipe on Better Homes & Gardens website (www.bhg.com)). At least we had Pillsbury halloween cookies! LOL!
