Day one of vacation - driving

Day one of vacation - driving

What a drive yesterday! We got on the road around 10 am and finally got to a hotel about 8 pm. We were on the road much longer than we wanted to be.

Esa was WONDERFUL yesterday for such a long car ride. She would jump right in the car no problem – even though we knew she had enough. We hit rain and traffic (caused by an accident) in ....Pennsylvania..... Thank goodness for the GPS on the phone! I figured out a way around and we travelled the countryside for a little ways, but totally got out of the traffic. We might have been stuck for about 30 minutes, but when we stopped at the next rest area, people said they were in it for about an hour and a half!

The next excitement was driving through a construction zone and a rock came flying up on the back side window – you could see where it hit, but luckily, it looks like it didn’t chip it!

Next was trying to find a hotel to stay at. We figured no problem, we’ll stop in ....Watertown.., ..NY.... and get a hotel – EVERY pet friendly hotel was booked. The next closest pet friendly hotel was over the border. So we finally got to the hotel about 8 pm. By the time we stopped, I was just done. Couldn’t even think. Walked Esa a bit and tried to find something to eat – ended up ordering in.

It was a rough night – none of us really slept well. Esa and I went out this morning and walked around the hotel – saw 2 feral kittens (definitely under a year) and a black squirrel playing Spiderman, crawling up the building.

We are packing up and going to try and find 2 geocaches that are REALLY close and then head to the cottage. About 3 hours and we’ll be there.

No more internet when we leave here. I’ll post our adventures as soon as I can. We might go to the library to log on during the week.
