update on what's going on at the Wentz household
OMG – I can’t believe it’s almost been a month since I last posted anything.
It’s been crazy at work (with the Inauguration). Our team (and National’s) were supposed to go to Orlando on the 21st. Well, the 21st was CRAZY here at the airport – the retail stores could NOT keep up with the crowds GRABBING Inauguration merchandise. There were empty fixtures EVERYWHERE. The 22nd was almost as crazy. I think it probably took the stores about 3 days to get back to normal (merchandise stocked and looking good).
At home, Dan’s been working a lot – some overtime and holidays. He had to work on the 19th and 20th, so ended up staying at work, sleeping in the car for a few hours and then back to work. Crazy, I know, but there was no way he was going to be able to get back to work on the 20th with everything going on downtown. Needless to say, it was better that I didn’t have to travel to Orlando that week with Dan not coming home at all.
Besides work, not too much has been going on the last couple of weeks. Esa continues to keep us busy. She now “requests” 3 walks on the weekends. Luckily, they don’t really need to be that long and she’s ok with it. I can’t believe she’ll be 2 on the 14th. It seems like every time we look at her she has grown taller. (I know, I sound like she’s a human).
We are very lucky that the economy hasn’t really affected us (so far) except for maybe savings not growing as much as it used to. The airport is pretty low on crime – especially shoplifting. Every once in awhile we’ll get some crazy story, but within the last week, we’ve had money stolen from a store (by a manager) and merchandise taken out of a display box (that was locked). In the local paper, they have posted to lock everything because there has been a rise in thefts and break-ins. People are so desperate. Now I think I can really imagine the riots/ breaking into stores in a time of an emergency (like what happened in New Orleans and the locks broke).
Westfield did have layoffs on the mall side. The AGMs were laid off (my position!). Here at the airport division, we run so tight that we can’t afford to cut back staff-wise, but we get the memos to cut back on expenses as much as possible (so much for a new computer this year!).
So, we are just happy to have jobs and keep plugging along.

This blog started as The adventures of a D.I.N.K. family where the two "kids" are four legged and how we are going to retire early. Now it's a 1 income, 1 entrepreneur, and 1 pup getting closer and closer to retirement.

Another weekend gone

Back to work - again.
The weekend was all about Esa - Saturday was a visit to Petsmart and Sunday was a road trip to visit the Ehries. All week I had been pysching Esa up - Saying "we get to go to Petsmart" or "we get to see Cash this weekend". Believe it or not, she must of understood because when it was time to go, she walked right to the garage and jumped in the car with no problems! Sometimes it takes a few minutes of chasing her around the yard/having to put on her leash to get her into the garage - but not Saturday or Sunday. Right in, no problems.
Yesterday was fun just hanging out with Matt, Nicole, Grace and Cash for a couple of hours. Grace is doing so well with her CF. She is a bundle full of energy. Cash and Esa had a bunch of fun - Esa was so tired on the ride home.
This week is going to be "weird" - I actually get to see my hubby in the evening! WOOHOO! Dan's taking a class during the day starting Tuesday. I have puppy patrol in the morning though - that will change my schedule up a bit too.

Well, while I was out of the office yesterday, it was decided that neither the Dulles or National teams would be going to the Division Meeting in Orlando on the 21st (of this month) - all because of the Inauguration.
I had offered to stay anyway - just because I've been to every single one of the division meetings and if I missed one, that would be ok - and it's kind of a pain with the pup and having someone come and let her out in the evening (although, she would probably be ok for the time Dan was at work). That week is just going to be crazy with Dan - he has to work on the 19th and 20th. He's planning on just staying there, so I probably won't see him until the 21st.
I'm going to miss seeing everyone at the meeting - we always have fun. Oh well.
