Becoming Betty: Garlic brown sugar chicken

So, I was on Facebook this morning, and went to pin a recipe that a friend posted.  Pinterest knows me well, because this recipe was "picked" for me.

Perfect timing because I kind of knew what I was going to make for dinner, but this was a change AND we just happened to have all the ingredients (that's a first)!

This recipe was super easy.  I thought at first that I wouldn't do the thickening part (too much work), but it wasn't.  The (thick) sauce really made the dinner.

The sauce pre-corn starch and water.

After the corn starch and water - SUPER thick!

We both liked the chicken and sauce - however, it was really spicy.  Definitely too much black pepper.  I think next time, I'll use only 1 teaspoon instead of 2 teaspoons.

Adventures in being sick - update

Monday, I went to the doctor and got another round of antibiotics.  He also suggested going to an ENT.  I mentioned that I had an allergist, so he said yes, go see him.

So, today I went to the allergist. He said that sometimes it takes more than one round of antibiotics to get rid of the infection.  However, he suggested that I get an allergy test since its been about 7 years since I last had one.

He said that then we'll talk about an ENT if the infections continue.

Fortunately, I have felt better then last two days.  It's like the stuff is finally moving.  How I usually feel when the sinus infection is on the way gone.

We'll see in a couple of days.

Adventures in Being Sick

Since about mid-January, I have been having sinus issues.  It all started during my 2nd weekend of staying at a hotel while being a vendor for Yarly at a scrapbooking crop.

Feb 7, I went to the walk-in clinic because I couldn't get ahold of my primary doctor.  It was confirmed I had a sinus and ear infection and was put on an antibiotic and a steroid.  Two weeks later, after finishing both meds, I was still feeling sick so went to my primary doctor and he gave me a 2nd round of antibiotics and said to take a decongestant.  Once again felt better, but now that I'm off the antibiotics, I'm feeling sick again.  I've had a sore throat for 4 days.

I'm going to see about getting into the doctor again tomorrow.  This just sucks.

Adventures in Health: Slender FX recipe #2

Today I tried a different way to make my meal replacement.

I used French Vanilla Slender FX and mixed it with yogurt.  It was a success.  I kept mixing it as I ate the yogurt and didn't feel any gritty taste.

Adventures in Health: Beyond Tangy Tangerine

One of the basic products of Youngevity is Beyond Tangy Tangerine (BTT).

I have tried it before, in a 16 oz bottled water and didn't like it.  I have been wanting to try it in juice to see if I liked it better.  Today I did just that!

I used the blender bottle I received as a gift this weekend at my upline's scrapbooking retreat, filled it half full with water (12 oz) and half with orange juice (12 oz).  SUCCESS!  I liked it.  I think I downed the whole thing within an hour or two.

Adventures in Health: SlenderFX

One of the products that I tried with Youngevity is the SlenderFX French Vanilla.  I tried it straight with milk and used the blender.  It was kind of gritty, but good.

Awhile ago, I found a recipe on the Facebook group HBC30 that sounded good.

I decided to try this, but with strawberry yogurt and frozen strawberries.

Note: my blender was originally my mom's and therefore probably 50 years old, if not old.  It still works great, however I think this recipe is more for an up-to-date blender that can handle the "extracting" thing that is popular.

All mixed up - consistence wasn't what I expected.  It was crunchy (the crushed ice cubes) and the strawberries were still solid.  However, the SlenderFX was totally mixed in and no gritty taste.

Someone was jealous and waiting to see if he was getting anything.

Of course he did! And of course he loved it.
