Adventures: Busy Weekend Full of Fun

This weekend was full of fun.

Saturday, we went out for lunch at The Village at Leesburg and went to Noodles & Co.  We scanned some munzees when we were there and got a geocache too.  We stopped at Hamilton Sofa Gallery which is going out of business (at that location only) to see what bargains there were.  We saw some items we liked for the basement, but we still don't know what we are doing down there decorating wise so no sense in purchasing anything yet.

In the afternoon, I went to my friend's house (in West Virginia) for a Jamberry party.  I'm glad I got to go since I was shown how to correctly put on and take off the wraps and given some ideas to prep my nails better so they don't come out like last time.  I also signed up for another Facebook party (September 28).

Sunday, we went to the Lucketts Fair.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but for $5 each, I figured what the heck, it's something to do.  We had a good time.  There were a lot of vendors and I really didn't expect to purchase anything (except maybe a funnel cake).

We ended up getting Zed a new bed and I got a (thumb) ring with Esa's name and dates.  I have been looking for awhile for something (and I lost her portion of the keychain that I made for me).  This was perfect.  I asked Dan about getting matching ones, but he wasn't really sure about it.  So, I just got one for me.  I love it and have been wearing it non-stop (more than my wedding ring).

The food was very tempting, but we ended up just getting funnel cake and bringing it home.

Becoming Betty: Tastefully Simple Salsa

One of my friends had an online Tastefully Simple party with a portion of the sales going to a charity.  I figured what the heck.  I haven't had the Oh My Chai! in awhile, so I might as well order it.  I was looking through the catalog and saw salsa mix.  You KNOW I needed to try that.

I let it chill for a couple of hours and tried it.  It was a little hot.  Maybe next time I won't use as much mix, but let me just say, it works!  I like it better than the jar stuff (tastes fresher), but not as well as the fresh salsa I can buy in the produce section.

Still, I think I would buy this again.

Adventures: Jamberry Nails

So, a friend of my invited me to an online nail party for Jamberry Nails.  It was all done on Facebook.  I decided to try having my own party, since it was all online.  Success!  My party was a lot of fun, and I ended up getting 4 sheets of Jamberry nails for $25 with my hostess gifts (regularly $15 each). 

My first application was a little tough to do.  Just because it was a new process, but definitely worth it.  I loved the fact that my nails were protected, and they stopped me from chewing my nails!

While I had the wraps on, my nails grew and I tried a 2nd application (no picture).  Both wraps lasted about 1 1/2 weeks.  It was great.  Until I took off the 2nd application.  Look what my nails looked like yesterday (3/31/14), and I took the wraps off on Wednesday (3/26/14).  

UUGGHHH!!  Since Wednesday, most of my nails have chipped and I ended up pulling off the nails.  Some of my nails totally bent back.  This sucks.  I REALLY like the Jamberry products!

Anyway, just go off Facebook messenger with my consultant (Janelle Frick).  This may be all user error.  I hope so.  I used olive oil, which is supposed to be heated up - and I didn't do that.  I also didn't soak the nail until the wrap totally came off - I used an orange stick to push it off.  So, I will wait a few weeks, let my nails grow a little and try it again.

MORE free Tupperware!

This is $101 in Tupperware that I got for free with hostess credits!  I also got 2 items at half price.  Overall, I got about $300 in product and paid about $98.

My free gifts I received at my party today - One is a thank you, one for $200 in outside orders, one for listening to a prerecorded message and one for getting a guest list to the rep.

I still need to finalize the party and then figure out what credit I will receive and then I can get MORE free or discounted products!

Today has not been that great of a day.



First, I get shampoo in my eye while taking my shower - it still hurts!



Then, as I'm in the shower, Babe pees on the bathrug.



Next, I get to work and don't even get to start my computer and Steph is on me about missing 2 tenants in the rent spreadsheet. I finally open my e-mail and there's a message from Steph about the same thing. I GET IT - I'M NOT PERFECT - AND I WAS SICK WHEN I WENT OVER IT! Never mind the fact that she also had a copy of it that sat on her desk while I was out sick - she could have easily done it.



I haven't mentioned to Steph that our accounting person found another one that was missing.



I'm also trying to get ready for my Creative Memories party on Friday. Right now, only 3 people have RSVP'd. There's no way I'm going to make the $400 in sales to get the extra hostess gifts. I'm surprised I made it the first time! It should be fun. I think 2 people who are interested in scrapbooking, but haven't really tried it are coming. One of my friends is staying the night too since she lives out in West Virginia.



Saturday, I think I'm going to Nordstrom's Rack since they start their inventory sale on Friday and I have like $150 in gift certificates for there. Time for some new clothes or maybe a designer purse.

Yeah - it's Friday. Not a holiday for us.



What a week - it was "car maintenance" week. We used a new mechanic, closer to home - we are now about $1,500 more in debt. The Jeep wasn't too bad - $270 for it's 24,000 mile checkup. The Nissan - a different story - $1,300. New tires, new battery, new hydraulics for the clutch, brake flush, radiator flush, power steering flush - good thing the car is paid for. But still - it's only 4 years old and at 45,000 miles. It's just a baby.... LOL!



A week until my Creative Memories party. Only 5 people so far, but the most important people - Dan's family. They are more into scrapbooking than I am.



Work this week has been crazy - I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow. No big plans this weekend - probably Caps practice on Sunday.

So I haven't really been typing what's been going on here - some stuff, so I figured I catch up a little. Along with adding some pics.



The hockey game was fun. Our seats were great. Everyone got a free practice jersey. I'll add the pics that I took. A funny thing that happened before the game - we were over by where the sportscasters were. So Brett Haber from Channel 9 was there ( http://www.wusa9.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=34449) and we watched the whole time he was preparing for the "live" sports section/broadcast. Dan kept joking around that he should run behind Brett while he's on TV. Anyway, Brett was done and he just happened to look over towards us and I clapped my hands/applauded him for a job well done. He just started to laugh and said thank you, thank you. LOL.



On the way home, I was trying to get a picture of some road signs - didn't really turn out - but for a good laugh! I was trying to get the two signs that are together that are almost my maiden name - ROSSLYN CLARK. One sign is for going to Rosslyn, VA and the other is the Clark Street exit. Just needed to change the two letters and it would have been a cool picture.



Took some pictures of the flowers coming up in our back yard. I'll be adding them too.



We had a little peeking tom last week. This little bird kept coming to our back door trying to get in. He kept coming back, so I was able to get a picture of him. I told Dan I bet it's the baby bird that I SCARED out of the nest we had in our plants hanging on the porch last year. He's come back for revenge.



Today, we went to the National Weather Service open house (http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/lwx/). It was pretty cool - especially since I'm so into weather! Funny - I never was into it when we were learning about it in science class! Took a couple of pics there too. We went in a Tornado/Hurricane similator that Loudoun County has - it was pretty cool.

Friday, I went to a Tastefully Simple party (www.tastefullysimple.com). It was fun. Sandy and Suzanne went with me. It's fun to finally have some of my friends actually meet that haven't yet! So Suzanne & Sandy and Michelle all got to meet after talking about each other to each other. I told Suzanne and Sandy to go to the party hungry and they ended up almost being sick from snacking on the dips and that!



Last night, we went to a little party that my boss, Stephanie, was having. It was ok - Dan enjoyed himself with the wine - he was little tipsy when we left! Funny thing is, he didn't know he liked wine that much!



Tomorrow, Babe has a doctor's appointment to get her nails clipped. Yes, I can't do them myself and Dan won't hold her down - he hates her screaming. I'm going to have her belly clipped too while I'm at it. She's getting MUCH better at me brushing her.
