The Daily Zed: I Like Frozen Bagels
So, I have this habit of pulling things out of the storage room and putting them on the stairs to go upstairs. Usually, it's canned goods or boxed stuff; and it's only for a few minutes while I get the laundry going.
That was the case today. I pulled out frozen bagels and put them on the stairs. I then did a couple of things in storage. Zed was, of course, downstairs with me. As I come out of storage, there's Zed, with the bagels now on the floor, trying to get into them. REALLY!!?? Since when do you like frozen bagels? And never mind there is DOG FOOD in the storage room for donation where you can easily get to it. Of course, Mama was in the storage room, so she would have caught him.
Oh, AND he had breakfast this morning (a rare occasion that he immediately ate it). That puppy! I think he has flashbacks to when he was on the streets and his survival instincts of looking for food kick in. We can't keep ANY bags on the floor because he'll be in them looking for food. Even if they don't have food in them.

The Daily Zed: Out for a Ride
Zed and I went out to a new store today, Pet Supplies Plus. They had a grand opening event this weekend and were cutting nails for free. So off we went. It is a really nice store and the employees are nice.

The Daily Zed: Bed Hog
This is what I came out to after getting ready for bed. His blanket was originally in the middle of the KING SIZE bed.
At least I was able to get home to move. This happens during the night too, with no luck in getting him to move.

The Daily Zed: It's All Fun And Games....
Until Mama gets hurt!
We were playing this morning and Zed is always going for the end in my hand when we play tug of war. This time he missed the toy and my hand and got my forearm.

Becoming Betty Crocker: Sticky and Sweet Chicken Wings
I had found this recipe a couple of weeks ago, and finally got around to making it. I seem to be in a rut on making dinner, so it was time.
The toughest part of the recipe was that stupid brown sugar! I hate using it because it is always as hard as a rock! So the first item was to find out what to do to soften that stupid stuff. On Ehow.com, it said to grate it. Wow! That took time to grate 1/2 cup!
Next was putting all of the ingredients together for the sauce.
The sauce smelled kind of Asian, so I was thinking rice with the chicken wings. Four hours later, DONE.
I do the broiler part like it said in the recipe, but it was still good and falling off of the bone.
Hubby rated it an "It's ok" He said that it didn't have that wow factor. I thought it was good, and might be good with chicken breasts. At least it was something different.

The Daily Zed: Valentine's Day!
I woke up to a surprise this morning. I didn't expect anything from Dan. It was a nice surprise since today is a rough day for both of us.
I was planning on making a card for Dan yesterday, but he was home from work. I planned on doing Zed's paw print.
I got all set with a towel on the floor, paper, ink, and wipes. Zed came over and rolled on his back. It didn't work trying it that way. Then with him sitting up which worked out well.
First couple of tries.
The final one. Zed was so patient with me pressing his paw down a couple of times. Never mind cleaning his paw afterwards!
And the final product -

The Daily Zed: Snow!
Poor Zed had to wait until daddy-o shoveled a path and area for him this morning to go the bathroom.
This was taken at 2pm. Snow has cleared to some rain so not as deep as this morning when it was 14", but it's still taller than Z!

Adventures: This Week is Rough.
I think both Dan and I are dreading Friday. Esa would have been 7. Over the last 2 weeks I have been thinking about her so much. Dan said he had a dream about her Sunday night. Of course that lead to me having a dream about her last night.
It's already a recurring dream - just different settings. The basis of the dream is that Esa is lost, but I always find her. This time she was injured though (weak and just laying there on top of a dog house), and I had to fight my way to get where she was (some crazy buck wouldn't let me by). The setting - The VFW Cootie Club Park, up the street from the house I grew up in.
So of course I woke up sad and have cried today. I laid down after lunch and now feel better. It's just a hard week.

Adventures: Furnace Issues
Last night the furnace stopped working. This morning it was 56 degrees in the house. Poor zed was freezing even with his hoodie on.
The maintenance tech came around noon and within 30 minutes, we had our heat on again. It was the igniter.

Adventures: New computer!
FINALLY - After almost 7 years, I finally got a new computer.
I went from a 200GB drive with 1GB RAM to 750GB drive with 4GB RAM. I had enough after the laptop was freezing with just one internet window open.
Wow, what a difference.

Adventures: First Country Concert
Last night we headed down to Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill in Woodbridge to meet up with our friend, Mike. Mike has been working with bands for about 15 years, and is out with Chris Cagle right now.
We haven't seen Mike in forever and about 2 weeks ago, he messaged me to see if we wanted to come. We both are NOT into country music, and really didn't think we would stick around that long. We figured we'd go have dinner and maybe head out even before the bands started. Like I said, we were there to catch up with Mike, not for the music.
It was an adventure just to get there and then into the restaurant. We kind of took the long way to get to the place, then when we got to the shopping center, we drove all around looking for the restaurant. We finally found it and parked. By that time, the line to get in was out the door and around the corner. We stood in the cold for about an hour. Luckily, it was just cold and not windy.
Finally, we got to the door and said, "We are on the guest list." First person, checked her printed list and nope, not there. Second person, had us written on the top of his list. We got in and asked about getting a table. The list was about 10 names, and they said they would try to get us a table, but it probably wouldn't happen.
So we walked around. I went into the restroom and when I came out, Dan was by the merchandise table where Mike was. We hung around the merchandise table for a good hour or so, chatting. Mike asked if we were going to hang out and stay for a couple of songs. I mentioned that we hadn't had dinner yet, because we couldn't get a table.
Next thing, he's taking us to the "VIP" room and set us up with a table and food. The only other people in there was the opening band. Then when the opening band was on stage, they cleared out the room, so that they could do a meet and greet.. Everyone lined up and we were just sitting at our table. Right before the meet and greet line ended, Mike asked one of the bar employees to get us and we got to meet Chris Cagle.
When Chris was on stage, we were the only ones in the "VIP" area. It was a good experience. Chris is a really good singer, just not our type of music. The place was sold out.
It was nice to get the VIP treatment! Thanks Mike!

The Daily Zed: I Don't Like Coughdrops
Oh that Zed! You would think we never feed him.
Today, I was straightening the slipcover on the loveseat, and noticed something on it. Like a spill or something. So I pulled it off, and washed it.
When Dan got home from work (yes, he worked overtime today), he said "Where's the slipcover?" I told him in the wash because of the spots. His response, "Sorry Zed, I tried to hide it from mama."
Come to find out, when Dan went to get his backpack this morning off of the loveseat, he realized that Zed had gotten in the backpack and got into the cough drops he had in it. The bag was torn all over it and obviously, he had gotten the wrapper off of a cough drop, tried it, and didn't like it. He had spit it out all over the slipcover. Once Dan told me that, I said I wondered why I saw a little piece of cough drop wrapper on the floor.

The Daily Zed: The Red Carpet Treatment
If only I had known that all it would have taken to get Zed to eat him breakfast as soon as we put it down was to give him the red carpet treatment, I would have done it a long time ago!
I (FINALLY) ordered a new rug to match our "newly" decorated living room. I wasn't sure if I was going to throw away the rug or not and I have thought about putting a rug under the food dish. So the result - Zed eats. We'll see if it works tonight.
