Errands and more errands
So at least the patio was completed yesterday. Then Dan and I went to the movies and saw Indiana Jones - I liked it.
Dan liked all of his presents (all the Indiana Jones movies, 2 1/2 men season 1, National Treasure 2, one PS game, one PC game, and a puzzle book).
After the movies, we were going to drop off the vacuum for maintenance. We get up to the shop and the store is no longer there! What a pain. Now we have to go to Vienna. The Leesburg Oreck store did not last long. I can't believe they only had the lease for a short time. Then it was off to Play It Again Sports. the owner wasn't there, so we had to come back in about 15 minutes. Dan had some games to trade in so we were going to go to EB Games. Dan went to the truck and realized he forgot them. We just went and looked and turned them in today while Esa had her class at Petsmart. Back to PIAS - what a rip off - I only got $50 for all of my hockey equipment. But I figured I might as well just go with it and get rid of it instead of trying to sell it at the yardsale. He (the owner) also pissed me off because when he was telling us the price, he was looking at Dan. I almost said something to the guy. When we left Dan said he was just waiting for me to say something. He knows me too well!
Esa's class is going well. I'm not sure if it is worth it like it has been in the past. It doesn't seem as structured, but I think we are at a point where it's better with one on one training. Don't get me wrong. Esa LOVES her class and it has helped with her listening when out in public and being calmer with other dogs. But we are mosting working on things that we could probably do on our own.
So the dumpster is still outside our house and get this - our next door neighbor got in it and took gravel out of it. It kind of pissed me off - just because he didn't ask. We paid for that stuff even if it wasn't used.
I got a new CD in the mail - OneRepublic - I like it!

vacation update (or should I say patio update)

vacation update (or should I say patio update)
Well, today is the hubby's b-day. I think the plan is to go to the movies, BUT we may have to stick around a little while since the patio STILL isn't done.
I think the workers made the steps larger than they were supposed to because they weren't able to take out the cement that was there to hold the wooden steps that we did have. It was supposed to be 3 steps - it looks like it's going to be 4 or 5 steps - which I think might be a code issue and leads to a hand railing - WHICH I DIDN'T WANT! I won't be surprised if the rep, Nathan, comes out to see what's going on.
We were also going to do some running around today - post office (yes Mae to sent out your b-day presents), EB Games, Play It Again Sports, and drop the vacuum off for maintenance.
Yesterday was just hanging out at home - walking Esa (probably a good 2 hours total - both of us are missing her just walking out the back door). Until the patio is done, we walk her out the front door around to the gate and then we have to watch her since the supplies are all over the yard. She's doing pretty well though.
Her buddy, Rugby, came over to visit and they hung out in the back yard. Those two are so funny together. They went running right to the back yard (the guys were still working) - like Esa wanted to show Rugby her house. I had a nice chat with Rugby's dad - it's so funny because neither Dan or I know their names. I think the mom's name is Mo. It's so funny how you know the dog's name but not the person! I try to write them down as soon as I find out (Stephanie, you and Dan were the exception - I didn't have a problem remembering your names!).
I need to work on some yard sale things today. I have the banner that was previously used and will need to get that posted. I still need to get the flyers from the clubhouse and distribute them. I'm running out of vacation time to do it!

and the vacation continues
I actually feel like I'm getting stuff accomplished while I'm off. I have a list of things to do and I'm slowly getting through them.
Today will probably be some more shopping, but I need to wait and see what Dan's schedule is. His mouth is hurting so he's going to try to go to the dentist and get it checked out.
Friday and Saturday were basically hanging out at home since Dan didn't feel that well.
Sunday, we went to CVS, Bloom and Home Depot. We picked up our new patio furniture.
Monday, we did a lot of yard work in the morning (I planted the rose bushes I got from CF, Dan mowed, used the weed killer, etc.). During the afternoon, we went to Dan's mom's house for a cookout. Esa LOVED it. She had a blast and was exhausted by the time we got home.
Yesterday it was out and about doing some shopping for the house and b-days. The plan is the same today along with dropping the vacuum off for maintenance and selling my hockey equipment.
We got a call this morning from the patio place. Supposedly they don't have enough pavers to complete the job so instead of ordering another pallet of pavers they are going to purchase out of their own pocket rounded edgers for the steps. Supposedly they are usually more, but not for us. Hopefully, they will be by this afternoon if they can get the product and finish the job.

starting the vacation......

WHOOHOO! - ON VACATION!
Just staying home and hanging out. Yesterday, was just hanging out though. Dan had his wisdom teeth taken out. Not fun. It was supposed to start at 8:30, so we were there at 8:15 or so. When we came in they said that it might be about 15 minutes late because they had an issue with the x-ray machine. 9:45 - he finally went in. Crazy. He was done in about an hour, BUT afterwards didn't go too well. He was nausous and seeing double. Finally the other dentist came in and said his blood sugar was low. He took a cup of coke and was much better - until the second cup. Then he was throwing up - of course it was of nothing since he hadn't ate since 12 midnight the night before. BUT, then he was better. So home we went. He slept a while, but then by 4 p.m., he was basically up and around. He even went on a walk with me and Esa. He's doing well so far today.
The plan for vacation was to just hang out and get some house stuff done (birthday shopping for Dan, car maintenance, bills, cleaning, etc.), but there's been a little change in plans. Yesterday we got a call from our contractor that is doing the patio and they rescheduled us for next week. WHOOHOO! Patio should be done by Wednesday night! So Tuesday/Wednesday will be hanging out at home while the patio is being done - but I have plenty to do, just need to keep Esa busy and staying inside while the work is being done outside.
More updates to come.....

yardsale update - 5-19-08

yardsale update - 5-19-08
Woohoo – Yard sale is on track! I just talked to Trevor at the clubhouse and he's making flyers for us to hang up and told me to go ahead and purchase what I need (not over $100) and keep the receipts for reimbursement!
He was VERY excited that I was heading up the event and opened the door if I was interested in overseeing the activities committee. He said that people are interested in "adult" activities, so maybe that's something I can do and he mentioned maybe then if someone has kids they would be willing to oversee "kid's" events.

Successful Grace’s Aces

Successful Grace’s Aces
What a day, but it feels great. Like we accomplished something good.
We headed out about 9 a.m. to Elkridge, MD - about 1 hour away. Nicole was there setting up when we got there. I helped with the registration table. Man, it was tough keeping it all in order. No wonder Nicole needed help! Anyway, Nicole thinks we raised over $30,000!
About 15 minutes before the "walk" started - here comes the rain! YUCK! Anyway, Dan and I had already said - we could walk one day in the rain compared to what Grace and her family has to do daily.
We did the "short" walk - just because of the rain. After standing in the rain until 2 p.m., we decided to get going.
We were supposed to go visit Cash, but by 2 p.m. we were all miserable. So we will be planning a date for the "kids" to get together.
Esa did well - only towards the end did she get restless, but I thing we all were!
We stopped at DQ got home around 3:30. Then we all took naps. I didn't wake up until 6 p.m.! Dan was on the computer when I woke up, but Esa was still sleeping. OBVIOUSLY, we were all tired. BUT - definitely worth it!

fears, paying off the house and a vegan cookie?
I did not sleep well last night – it's been raining all night and I just heard the rain and wind. I think I'm freaking a little bit about tornados since there have been so many of them. If something happens to our house, we are screwed since we don't have an inventory done. Never mind the pictures and family tree stuff. Maybe that is something I will work on when I'm off.
So I mentioned to Dan about paying the house off in 11 years with an extra $1,000 to it each month. He's all for it – and reminded me that he wanted to do that over a year ago!
I just had my FIRST vegan chocolate chip cookie – IT WAS WONDERFUL! I really liked it. Made by Alternative Baking Company
