I'M FINALLY HOME!
Training was really short today - I was home by 12:30 p.m. - just in time to have lunch with Dan before he went to work.
It finally has not rained (yet) today! The skies are starting to look dark - give it an hour or so.
My face is fine. Last night I took Benedryl and put hydrocortizone on my face, AND made sure I only used MY pillow. Looking much better today.
Babe is doing well. Not quite 100%, but almost.
Now, for a busy day at work tomorrow. I have to be in a little early - I have a 8:30 meeting. The boss has a meeting at National, so I probably won't see her. We had a good chat yesterday. Everything seemed to go OK while I was gone.

Another day of training. It sucks. Almost everything for the airports wasn't set up, so we couldn't do about have of the step-by-step processes.
The big bad news - I've broken out in hives on my face. Who knows why. It could be the change in skin cleanser mixed with a different product line moisturizer. It could be the sheets on the bed. It's only on one side of the face so I'm thinking it might be the second. Luckily I have Benedryl and hydrocortizone. Next step will be the dry face.
Rain, rain, and more rain. It's been raining and flooding all over the place. The have a volunteer evacuation somewhere close to Baltimore. Supposedly, it's ok at home. Babe seems to be doing much better - eating and drinking more.
We have ants in the house - we think they are coming in the back door. This is the second time we've found quite a few - not a major line of ants, but enough. About 2 months ago, as I was going to the garage there was a ton of ants on the sidewalk. Last year, it was at the garage door - HUGE line of ants.

The first day of training is over - thank goodness. It went pretty fast and not too boring.
I forgot to mention that when I was driving up to here, I saw a car that must have lost control, but somehow, the backend of it was up a tree! I've never seen that before and have no idea how that happened! Too bad I didn't have my camera. I also saw a cat in the median of 95!
We went to an italian restaurant for dinner in Towson - I didn't realize it was right down the street from a club Dan and I went to for New Years about 2 years ago! When we left, it was POURING! not just raining - POURING AND ROADS FLOODED! We all ended up being soaked. My clothes are still wet.

So - here I am in another hotel. This time in Reistertown, MD - a little bit outside Baltimore. I'm just waiting for other Westfield people to get here. Dinner is supposed to be at 8 p.m. I'm not looking forw
Dan gets to be Babe's nurse while I'm away. Babe seems to be doing a little better. She slept on the bed with us last night and is drinking a little bit on her own along with eating a little bit.
It's been raining the last two days. It started like 2 p.m. yesterday. We've lost power twice so far for a second. Once when it wasn't even raining! I didn't understand that one.

I got a call yesterday from the nursing home - Helen isn't drinking and they wanted to confirm that we didn't want to do an IV. I talked to Joanne today and she said Helen looks terrible.
I'm trying to hang in there, but yesterday I lost it. The stress at work - trying to get everything done - along with preparing for the training next week (Monday through Wednesday), Babe being sick, and worrying about Helen - oh yeah - and Babe peeing on our bed - I just starting crying. Then I walked on the treadmill for about 20 minutes and felt a little better.
I heard from Chrissie today and Babe's thyroid levels are high so that could be why she's still just laying around. Her medication has been upped to 1 full pill a day. Hopefully that will help. Good news - her liver & kidneys are doing fine. Babe seems a little bit better - she's walking around and eating very little. I have to treat the baby by cleaning her bottom - that's fun - and I'm also trying to keep liquid in her by using a suringe and squirting water in her mouth. That's much more successful that cleaning the bottom.
Tomorrow, heading to Baltimore for work - training on the new accounting system. This is what Sandy went to LA for and we switched spots because I figured it would be easier for me to go to NY from Baltimore (only about 1 hour away) compared to flying across the country.

Babe had her doctor's appointment last night.
Chrissie gave her an IV and an antibotic and drew blood to run some tests. Chrissie thinks it might be a virus - I guess we'll know for sure when the blood work comes back.
Last night Babe really felt bad - she just started meowing (like she was in pain) when I picked her up to take her upstairs for bed. Then she hid under the bed. She did seem a little bit better last night, she was at least sitting up a little.
Today - what a turn around! She ate a little bit of babyfood and the minute my alarm went off, she jumped up on the bed to come see me. She's even getting back into her routine of knowing when she gets her Pounce treats.
Yesterday afternoon was a bad day at work - it's just so stressful! This whole week has been stressful! The thing is - EVERYONE is feeling it. I'm surprised that we all don't go off on each other. I kind of went off on someone in our accounting department - they just expect you to drop everything when they call you and then spend an hour on the phone with them while they figure it out on their side. I appreciate their work, but when you have deadlines, sometimes it just gets to you. I'll be apologizing today - need to keep on their good side.

So, Babe hasn't been feeling good the last couple of days.
It started Monday night and today still isn't that good. Better than yesterday, but both Dan and I are worried about her. She has this about every other month, but usually it's just a day and then she's fine.
Just another thing to add to the stress. Work has been crazy - everything is last minute and must be "put to the top of the list". One more week and I do two jobs. I'm excited, but also anxious about it.
My cousin, John, called last night and said that the bible will be sent out in about a week or so. He's been busy with working with the family lawn business and trying to deal with family issues. His son, Matthew, is in jail for a couple of months. Maybe he'll get the help he needs.
Good news at work today - Grace's family is moving back to Maryland. Matt has been promoted and will be moving to the Wheaton office. That'll mean (hopefully) we'll be seeing more of them and get to see/babysit Cash. Both Dan and I love Cash - he's a great dog.

Only pet owners will appreciate this.
Babe has been a pain when it comes to using her litter box. She uses it, but her butt is usually hangin over, so everything is going over the edge. So, every day, we clean around the litterbox - luckily, it's in the bathroom and on a tiled floor. We've bought her three different litterboxes with higher and higher edges, and used puppy pads around the litter box. Now, you're probably saying, why not just try the covered litter box? Babe has never in her 17 years used a covered litter box - both Dan and I figured, there's no way she's ever going to use it. Although, she did use our (covered) recycling bin and one of her canvass houses as a litter box.
This weekend though, we figured, what the heck, we've spend this much on litter boxes, might as well, try a covered one. When we first brought it home, we put it together and tried to show her it, but she'd have nothing to do with it.
We put the covered litter box next to the other and the next morning, I heard this noise like Babe was getting into something, and then it clicked - she's at least looking at the covered litter box. I got up and sure enough, she used it! WOOHOO! SUCCESS!
It's been 24 hours and she's used it a couple of times. I've also removed the old box, but left the puppy pads just in case.
Who says you can't teach an old cat a new trick?

Woo hoo! The boss is out playing golf today! That means I can actually get some stuff done - which I have been doing since I got in today! Tuesday, I only got 2 1/2 things done - same for yesterday. We are just too busy here with paperwork. I haven't been out in the concourse since last week.
I volunteered at the shelter last night - for about an hour. I enjoyed the time cuddling the kittens - and some of the adult cats. The last time I was up there was March or April - too much has been going on, so I haven't been able to get up there. My perfect dog was up there - a Shepard/Pug mix! The two dogs I want put together! The face looked like a shepard, the body was midsize (bigger than a pug, smaller than a small shepard), but the voice - definitely sounded like a Pug - a yip-yip pug! What a voice on that dog. There isn't a picture of him on the website yet, as soon as there is, I'll add it here.
I fell asleep watching the Stanley Cup Finals - Oilers are coming back and making the series excitable. At least I didn't miss the last game of the season. Next game is Friday, so maybe I'll be able to stay awake for it and see who actually wins. The score is 3-2. Carolina only needs one more win and that'll be the end. We're hoping the Oilers win because of Michael Peca. He's been around a long time - used to play for Buffalo.
I've added our sponsored dogs to the pictures. Dan and I have several dogs that we sponsor throughout the country since we can't have a dog yet. I'll be adding more pics to that soon since I only have the one on there right now.
*****
June 17 - added picture of Stella - 4 year old at the shelter - she was given up.

Oh what a day - I got ONE thing done - help the boss work on the budget forecasting. This morning, driving in and walking in, I was already feeling overwhelmed. It doesn't help when you only get one thing done in a 9 hour work day!
I called the nursing home to see how Helen is doing tonight - doing the same. The nurse said that she was screaming out earlier. Oh, this sucks. I hope this doesn't go on too long.
I found out that Sandy saw Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray (www.sugarray.com) on her flight to Los Angeles. They were in town to play at the Fairfax County Fair. That should have been me on the plane! I was the one that was scheduled to go to LA for training this week. She BETTER OF talked to him! Sandy's always saying that I'm the one that's destined to meet celebrities - this was her chance! I'll find out Friday when she's back in the office.

Today was my last treatment for Alase (www.revealspa.com). No more shaving the legs or underarms. Totally worth it - as long as you can handle the pain.
We did nothing else today. I came home and Dan was asleep on the couch and I joined him. We both finally got up around 3:30 p.m. Dan ran to the store, got some stuff for grilling and the rest of the evening, we watched TV. I think we really needed it after the last couple of weeks.
BTW - Dan hadn't slept at all the night before. I got up to go to my appointment and he was up. He finally laid down after I left. His sleep schedule is so screwed up with working evenings (4 to midnight). Good thing it was a Friday night/Saturday morning that he couldn't sleep at all.
Friday, the meeting at Wheaton went well. It was great to see Anthony - it's been like 2 years since we've seen each other and he's been through a lot in those two years. I'll definitely have to make a point to get in touch with him more. He's always been a friend besides "the boss". He'll be coming out sometime to see the airport changes, so we'll be getting together then.

Well - today was a bust on what we had planned. We were going to go to the corn maze in Leesburg - which we do every year. We went up there and it wasn't open yet. We called the number and they said that it was going to open up at 4 p.m. today. It didn't even look ready. We already have plans this evening anyway.
My friend, Suzanne, is coming over for dinner - a breakfast dinner. YUMMY!

So - what a night!
All day, I thought I was going to be stuck in Newark. The online flight info just keep saying "waiting for crew" and when I asked the customer service, they said the same thing. If I changed the flight before it was "canceled", I would have had to pay the difference. So I took a gamble and booked a hotel room JUST IN CASE. Well - didn't have to use it, but still have to pay it since you had to cancel before 6 p.m. BUT it's worth it since I was a ease while I was waiting for the flight.
My 7:05 p.m. flight FINALLY left about 9:45 p.m. Yes - almost 3 hours late. We got into Dulles around 11 p.m. Such is life. At least I got home. I went into work a little late today, but I'm still REALLY tired.
I was able to read my "Lost" book a little bit while waiting for the flight - until I got to page 148 - and the book repeats pages 38 to 114 and then jumps to 179! CRAP! So I figured I would contact the publisher. I sent out an e-mail this evening.
Tomorrow is my meeting at Wheaton, MD. At least I don't have to be there until 10 a.m.

So - here I am, in Newark. It's almost 5 and my 7 p.m. flight has been delayed to 8 p.m. as of right now. As for the flights before going to Dulles, they have all been canceled. What does that say? We know at the airport - more than likely my flight will be canceled too. So, I've made a reservation at the same hotel - just in case. I should know in about an hour or so if the flight will be going or not.

Well - here I am in Newark, NJ - sitting in the hotel room. Thank goodness for wireless internet access!
The day has been fine. I got right up this morning and got to the airport a little early. I saw a sight that I wasn't sure was good or not - I saw a guy drinking beer at 7:30 A.M.! Yikes - he either had been up all night and just continued drinking, needed a beer to relax before the flight, or is an alcoholic!
The flight was good - landed 20 minutes early. We were in a small RJ (sits about 50 people). I was in the very first seat and was by the "galley". The flight attendent started chatting with me about the book I was reading (Bad Twin - part of the Lost TV show) and that lead to talking about Lost and other tv shows.
The "training" has gone well so far. Just a lot of maintenance stuff that I will be doing while Susan is out. Susan and I get along great and think a lot a like on things so it all works out well.
I'm staying at the Days Inn right by the airport and every so often I hear the "airtrain" whistle blow - mostly because it's almost right outside my window. The hotel is pretty nice - I wasn't too sure since it was REALLY cheap for the Newark area - $80!
Hopefully, I'll be getting to bed soon - I'm so tired. I'm still drained from last week.

Busy week at work this week.
Tomorrow and Wednesday, I go to Newark to prepare to fill in for my co-worker who is going on maternity leave at the end of the month.
Friday, Chris and I will be traveling locally. We're going to our office in Wheaton. This should be fun because I get to have lunch with my first GM, Anthony! I haven't seen him in over a year.
The short time I am in the office, Sandy is out, so everyone is filling in for her. So far, so good - the office has been quiet.

Just hanging out today.
I called the nursing home and Helen is the same, but is eating solid food. She still has her yelling spells. The nurse's aid that I spoke with said that she had been yelling for about an hour. She did have a good day yesterday though. I guess she was kind of with it.

Today is my MOD day - kind of nice - making up for the time I was out this week.
No news on Helen. I need to give the nursing home a call this evening.
Dan's coming here for lunch and bringing Chipotle! YUMMY! Something to brighten the day (besides seeing him). We've both been grumpy this week with everything going on. We're both drained. Luckily, we both realize it and keep reminding each other so that we don't get pissed at each other.

Back home - for now.
We had a TERRIBLE thunderstorm last night. We lost power in the hotel for like a minute. The storm reminded me of the storms here.
